Falasarna beach is located 52 km west of Chania town and is one of the most beautiful beaches of Crete. It has been awarded as the best in Europe. The beach is sandy and has stunning blue waters.
It is organized with sun beds, umbrellas, and some restaurants. In a short distance from the beach there are the ruins of the ancient city of Falasarna. Here was the ancient maritime port of Polyrinia. The name came from the nymph Falasarna. Falasarna was more important city than Polyrinia. Falasarna had their own currency in the form of a woman from one side and the letters FA to the other. In the ruined town we can watch the city walls, parts of the wall of the Acropolis, remains of houses, tombs and a stone throne, who believed that it was dedicated to the God of the Sea, Poseidon.
