The beach Elafonissi is located 73 km southwest from the city of Chania and is awarded with blue flag.
The sand of Elafonissi or Boulismeni beach is pink from the thousands of shells that have been shattered by the time giving a special appearance at the beach. The waters are very shallow and warm. The beach Elafonissi is very well organized with sunbeds , umbrellas, and some canteens for a cold drink or a snack.In the area there are rooms for rent , and luxury villas with private pools. It is a beach that should visit during your stay in Chania. In 1824 the Turks massacred 850 people on Easter Sunday.
