Neoria of Chania

Neoria is a complex of 17 Shipyards constructed in the early 16th century in Akti Enoseos street for the repair and maintenance of ships of the time.
In their original form the dockyards were open to the sea side, which seeped inside them to a point to be able to haul the vessel for repair During the Turkish period the maintenance of the harbor, and the downgrading of the role of ratios to abandon the original use of shipyards and converted primarily in military warehouses. From the big band of 17 shipyards gradually demolished nine. Today survives a group of 7 consecutive domes are used as warehouses. In the plase of shipyards that demolished, constructed a stone building that housed the custom office of Chania. In 2015 the building was renovated and is going to be used as a multipurpose culture place.
